Praise the Lord. Though I started a life of faith a long time ago, struggling to live justly and holy according to religion and the law, my soul was like a wild horse wandering endlessly up high mountains and across the wide world. I prayed hard and I served in the church, but my spirit became drier than the three and a half years drought that occurred in the Bible during the time of Elijah (James 5:17). Psalm 119:81 says, “My soul faints while longing for your salvation; I hope in your word.” And Psalm 119:82 says, “My eyes faint while longing for your word, As I say, when will you comfort me?”

When my spirit was exhausted from all my striving, my younger sister gave me a book on Genesis by Watchman Nee to read. As I read and then listened to a cassette tape of Witness Lee given to me by another Christian, I had the strong thought, “Ah! This is the word that I have been looking for. This is the food that I want to eat so my spirit shall by no means hunger” (John 6:35). I thanked the Lord endlessly. John 1:7-8 says, “He [John the Baptist] came for a testimony that he might testify concerning the light, that all might believe through him. He was not the light, but came that he might testify concerning the light.” As John the Baptist testified concerning Christ, I felt that Watchman Nee and Witness Lee testified concerning Christ to me. Because of being busy, I could not read many, but I can say that of the books I have read, I clearly sensed God's life. John 6:63a says, “It is the Spirit who gives life.” To me, these books are full of the Spirit of God and help me to turn my spirit to contact the Lord within. I thank the Lord that by His great mercy, I began to meet with the local church and I want to pursue only Christ (2 Timothy 2:22).
